When the founder of AGV Sports, Amisano Gino Valenza, first opened his business, his intention was not to manufacture helmets, he was into making and designing leather bike saddles and leather seats for motorcycles. It was not until 1947 that the company decided to expand and try to come up with different innovative ways of designing racing helmets. They searched for ways to manufacture these helmets that was completely different than any other helmet that had been made before. This goal ultimately ended up in forming the History of AGV Helmets.

The History of AGV Helmets takes us all the way back to the year 1949, when the first ever leather shelled open-faced helmet was released onto the market. This immediately caught the attention of the professional motorcycle racers and that is where AGV helmets made their first appearance. And where it still remains today. Although, there are AGV helmets designed for the off-road biker as well as the street biker.

A few years later, in 1953, the company released the first fiberglass vulcanized helmet. Another important mark in the History of AGV Helmets; because this design was the beginning of the current day helmet. Of course, during the years, there were modifications and upgrades that this helmet has undergone, but nonetheless, it is a helmet that is sought after by nearly everyone cyclist out there. This helmet is stylish, functional, safe and has been worn by many professional riders all over the world. After the release of this helmet, the company helped design the first ever downhill ski helmet for the 1km downhill ski speed record. Thus, perfecting their skills to make the perfect motorcycle helmet.

Reviewing the History of AGV Helmets, you will come across many sport racers such as Valentino Rossi where he was sporting an AGV helmet during every race resulting in winning seven World Championship Titles. In the off road world, Nelson Piquet raced in the Formula 1 World Championship wearing a brand new Kevlat/DuPont fiberglass full faced AGV helmet. If professionals such as these two guys trust their heads to an AGV helmet, surely the pleasure seeking rider or the street rider can definitely feel confident wearing one.

Another very important mark in the History of AGV Helmets is the “Clinica Mobile”. This facility was funded by AGV Sport so riders where were injured while racing had a place where they could be cared for. This facility was founded in 1977 and is still in operation today. AGV Sport not only offers the most innovative design in racing helmets, they also offer motorcycle safety apparel, gloves and boots, leather suits and textile jackets. So, whether you are a pleasure seeker, an off-road biker or a professional racer, an AGV helmet will both protect your head and make your friends green with envy!
