Snell Certified HelmetsSnell Certified Helmets are not available from all manufacturers. The specific manufacturers that desire their helmets to carry the precious snell certification have to seek it out and pay for the process through the Snell Foundation. This is over and above the DOT rating that most helmets have notice of on the outside. A rigorous list of testing to measure the safety and quality of the helmet is imposed on the helmet. If the helmet passes, a serial number is given and affixed to the inside of the helmet to show the certification has been received. Look for the Snell certification on select helmets including Arai and Scorpion helmets.
Snell Certified Helmets have a rating that is over and above the DOT rating and is not given to but, instead, sought and paid extra for by the manufacturers themselves. Look for this rating on select helmets including Arai and Scorpion. |
